Meet Your Mentor: Adam Houghton

About Me

Hi, I’m Adam! I’m 25 years old and have always had a passion for helping people. With over five years of experience working with young adults and children with autism, learning disabilities, and complex needs, I’ve developed a deep understanding of how to create safe, supportive, and engaging environments.

I’ve worked as a support worker, senior support worker, and manager in care settings, helping individuals develop life skills and enjoy new experiences. Currently, I work in supported living while studying psychology at the Open University, with the goal of becoming a therapist one day.

I believe in creating a relaxed and judgment-free space where we can connect, learn, and have fun. Mistakes are part of learning, and I always encourage growth in a way that feels natural and pressure-free.

My Gaming Experience

Gaming has always been a big part of my life, and I love using it as a way to connect and build confidence. I’m a big fan of Fortnite (Zero Build) and Pokémon, both games that have played a huge role in my childhood. If a game catches my attention, I’m all in!

When mentoring, I use gaming as a team-building experience, providing a shared space where we can talk openly, strategies together, and have fun. Whether we’re working through challenges in Fortnite or just chatting in a game world, the goal is always to support and encourage each other.

Favourite Game: Fortnite (Zero Build)

Platform: PlayStation 5

Gaming Style: Casual, but sometimes competitive (especially when I keep dying 😆)

I have a cat that genuinely believes he’s a dog.

I can trip over thin air (yes, it’s a talent!).

I started a TikTok channel during lockdown and gained 3,000 followers just by doing a Frozen video!
